KORIMAKO PROGRAMME
Location: Craigavon Park, Blockhouse Bay
When: Tuesdays
Age Group: 4-12 years old
Our new Korimako programme is nestled within the expansive 30-acre Craigavon Park.
Our programme provides a unique outdoor experience for children aged 4 to 12 years old. It is a 1-day programme every Tuesday of the school term.
Craigavon Park features open pastures, a mixture of native bush and pine forests, a small creek that flows through the middle of the park, and public bathroom facilities.
Our daily adventures will include shelter building, whittling, discovering flora and fauna, self-directed nature play, exploratory walks, encounters with the stream, and essential life skills like tool use and cooking. Engaging activities such as plant identification sessions and occasional trips to the local beaches add an exciting dimension to our programme.
At the heart of our approach is the recognition of the Tuakana-Teina relationship, where older children serve as mentors and leaders, fostering a sense of community and cooperation. Our child-led learning environment, complemented by planned activities based on the children's interests, ensures a holistic developmental experience.
